Maybelline Volum'Express The Mega Plush Mascara review

Hey guys,

Today I will be reviewing this fairly new product from Maybelline which is  Volum'Express The Mega Plush mascara and the one I have is the waterproof version.

What Maybelline claims is-
Gel-mousse formula. Contains 40% less hard waxes for massive yet supple lashes, never stiff, never brittle.
Patented flexor brush coats every lash with supple volume.
Ophthalmologist tested. Contact lens safe.

The wand has a bend which is very flexible and is supposed to be easier for application. The brush has fine plastic hair like bristles, which are meant to coat each lash with equal product. I bought this product for $16.67 at My Chemist as they were having a 15% off Maybelline sale. In Priceline it retails for $19.95.

What I think of this product-
The brush is spikey and the bristles flimsy, because of the flimsiness the brush it is difficult to coat each lash with equal product. No doubt this gives me length but no volume. And coating too much on gave me spikey lashes.
One coat of mascara gave me a little darker lashes but not much volume.
Two coats made my lashes stick together and made them all spikey. I had to brush through them with a comb to seperate them.

If you are looking for a volumising mascara I would say this is not the one for you as it only provides length. The waterproof formula stays put for about 12 hours but does flake a tiny bit. It will take a lot of makeup remover to get this stuff off. Even after curling my lashes this did not hold on to the curl and made my lashes all straight and spikey. The formula is great but the brush plays an important role in application.

Overall I think this is a good mascara if you want a really natural look just to give a bit of colour to your lashes and make them visible. I would not personally buy this again as I need volume from my mascara but I think if I use this formula with another brush it may work well. I will give that a go and see what it does. But if you are paying around $20 for a mascara I think you could be better of buying the  Flared Falsies or Colossal which has a sturdy brush and gives more control.

Hope you guys had an awesome weekend!

Limecrime makeup at Gorgeous Cosmetics Melbourne

Hey guys,

I have some exciting news to share with you. I spotted Limecrime lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes at Gorgeous Cosmetics Westfield Doncaster in Melbourne. They also had some Ben Nye palettes and pigments. I couldn't take any pictures unfortunately and I am not sure how long they are going to be stocked there but if you really want to check the colours out I suggest you to head in store soon. The lipsticks were $20 each. I forgot to ask the MUA for the prices of the eyeshadow palettes so I am really very sorry for that.

Anyways the whole point of this post is to inform you guys about the availability of Limecrime makeup and Ben Nye products at the Gorgeous Cosmetics store ( I have seen it at Doncaster only not sure if the Melbourne Central store stocks it too)

Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer Review- Solstice

Hey guys,

This post is going to be a review on the new Rimmel Apocalips lip gloss in Solstice. I bought this for $15.95 when it first came out in Priceline. It was more than what I would pay for a lipgloss but I really wanted to do this review for anyone who will find it helpful because when I looked up the internet I hardly found any reviews. Anyways lets get on to the product

This lip gloss comes in 8 shades ranging from nude to red. I bought a wearable pink shade in 201 Solstice. I checked Rimmel's website but did not find this product listed on there so I am not sure what they claim but on the stands in Priceline it mentioned "the end of colour as you know it".

Anyways this is the most disgusting product I have ever tried. I am not sure if it is just my lip gloss but there is this wierd artificial chemically smell that I just can't stand and makes me sick. I did not smell the testers in store I just swatched them and picked this colour but if I had done that I wouldn't have bought it.

It is a very pretty colour and I do like the formula too because it is not sticky like some lip glosses. The formula is very pigmented and the brush is precise in application.

This is what the colour looks like swatched on my hand. Its a pearly mauve pink.

I do like the feel of this lipgloss but the smell I really can not tolerate. I know how hard I tried to take these pics without throwing up. I will not be purchasing anymore of these Apocalips and I do suggest you to smell them before you buy them because they are pretty expensive. But if it did not have that smell I would have definitely bought more colours.

Have you tried them yet??? If yes, what are your thoughts on them?

StrawberryNet.com Haul and Review- YSL Rouge Volupte Shine and DiorAddict

Hey guys,

I just received my package from StrawberryNet.com and I am so excited to share the stuff that I bought with you. For those of you who don't know what StrawberryNet.com is, its basically a website that stocks all high end and some drugstore brands of makeup, skin care, hair care etc. You wont find all the products from a brand stocked here but I found a lot of discontinued products and thats why I love this website. All prices are cheaper than the Australian retail prices which makes me want to always shop here. An added bonus is that it provides free shipping* ( except for perfumes, something to do with customs). You can find all the info here

My experience has always been outstanding as far as super fast delivery (ordered on a friday, delivered on a tuesday) goes. I have ordered six times from them already and not once have they messed up and sent a wrong item, I will definitely be ordering more from them.

Anyways back to my haul. I am crazily obsessed  with the Rouge Volupté line of YSL so I bought two more colours. They look similar in the packaging but on the lips they definitely look different. Also this time I bought a Dior Addict lipstick too. The consistency of the Dior Addict lipsticks feel similar to the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine lipsticks and thats why I thought i'l give it a go.

As you can see both the Rouge Volupté Shine lipsticks look similar in colour in the tube but when applied 1 is more brown and the other more plum. The Dior Addict is a gorgeous pinky red and I love the formula.

Can't wait to use them more often!!

Hope you enjoyed my little haul and if you are looking for high end products but at a cheaper rate then please do check out StrawberryNet.com

Love ya!

Weekend haul

Hey guys,

Sorry for being away for a long time now, was juggling work and home and hardly found time for myself. So I thought why not go shopping and treat myself. These items were bought with my own money and I absolutely love them!

I bought Mac's Blush in Blunt which is a dark brown contour colour. I had heard very good things about this and when I went into the Mac store in Australia a few months ago they didn't even know this shade existed. So when I saw it in store yesterday I caved in and bought it.

The next two things are from Inglot. The first one is a cream blush in 83 and the second one is a lip paint in 64.

I have been loving cream blushes for the winter and I hardly have any so I bought this. It is a pretty peachy pink and looks very natural when on.

The next thing is this lip paint in number 64. Now I must say, I hate lipglosses but these lip paints are the bomb! I bought this red coral shade which looks gorgeous on the lips and doesn't stick ( the best part ) I hate anything that makes my lips stick to each other. Also both these products were 50% off so that was a bargain too. ( Inglot always has some products at 50% off when they have too much stock of that item)
Hope you guys enjoyed my little haul.

Do let me know if you have tried any of these products and if you like them or not.

Love!

MAC lip pencil Spice dupe

Hey guys!!

So there has always been this hype about all Bollywood Actressess loving the MAC Spice lip pencil for thier nude lips and it has been featured in a lot of magazines too. So I went ahead and bought it but when I came home I realized I have other nude brownish lip liners and wanted to see how they compare. So after a lot of trial and error I came down to two of my lipliners out of which one is almost an identical dupe for MAC Spice.

I compared it with Maybelline Lip liner in 20 Nude and Essence lip liner in 04 Honey bun.

The Maybelline Nude lip pencil has more of pink undertones to it and is also more creamy and has a slight sheen to it and on the lips also it does not look anywhere close to MAC Spice. So I went on to my next pencil, Essence lip liner in Honey Bun which is more close in texture to Spice. Honey bun also has some pink undertones but the colour should be compared on the lips and not just by hand swatches. So I tried them on my lips using Spice on one half and Honey bun on the other half of my lips.

On the above picture that I swatched the product on the back of my hand you can see the difference in colour. But we use a lip liner on the lips not the hand so below is a picture of me wearing the two pencils. Also they are my bare lips and there was no foundation or concealer applied to neutralize my lip colour.

This pic was taken in day light and with no artificial lighting and honestly I could not tell any difference between the two sides. Infact I wore this out to work and no one noticed a difference in my lips.
I have taken this picture below with concealer applied on my lips and now you can see a tiny bit of difference between the two halves.

Spice on the right and Honey bun on the left.

So probably when applied on bare lips because of the pigmentation on the lips these two apply exactly the same but thats how we apply a lip liner on a daily basis so rather than spending $30 on the Mac pencil, I would buy Honey Bun and use it as a close dupe.

What do you guys think??

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Vivid Rose 904

Hey guys,

Today I am going to review the lipstick from Maybelline Color Sensational Line in Vivid Rose 904.

This is one of their new colors for the summer from the Vivid Line and it claims to be more pigmented and creamy than the regular line.
This particular shade caught my eye because it reminded me of the YSL rouge volupté in Rose Culte.
When applied on the lips it glides smoothly and with one coat you get a pretty good pigmentation of color. I would suggest using two to three coats to get the actual color that is in the tube.
I wouldn't call this super creamy like my YSL because it does tug on my lips when applying the first layer.
The staying power of this lipstick is like any regular lipstick, about 3-4 hours with eating and drinking going on. After that it stains the lips to a beautiful rosy pink which looks gorgeous.

The stain left after 4 hours

I will have to agree with the pigmentation claim that it has more pigments than the regular line of lipstick thats why it stains the lips. Using a water based makeup remover will not take it off completely. You will have to use an oil based makeup remover.

I compared it to my YSL lipstick and the pigmentation and color is almost exact. It is a very close dupe so if you are looking for a similar color to the YSL Rose Culte your search ends here because it is the same color but one fifth the price.

Also maybelline is always on sale in Priceline and Chemist Warehouse because I picked mine for $8.84 from chemist warehouse and it was $10 in priceline.

Below is a comparison picture of both the lipsticks

The Rose Culte looks a bit lighter because I used only one coat of the lipstick whereas the Maybelline one has three coats on. If you look at the shade you can see that they are very similar.

Hope you found this review useful. Do let me know in the comments below.

Love,
