Maybelline Taupe Temptress Eyeshadow Quad

Hello loves,

Today I am going to review the eyeshadow quad called Taupe Temptress by Maybelline from their Eyestudio line. I bought this quad thinking the last shade  on the very right is a dupe to Mac's Beauty Marked but this has a purple base instead of a black base like the Beauty Marked does. This quad in particualar has more cool taupey shades.
There is one frosty white shade, one pink silvery shade, one taupe grey shade and the last one is a dark plummy purple shade.

Things I like about this quad:
-Very pigmented eyeshadows!
-easy to get hold of. Available at all maybelline counters
-can create various looks using all four colors
-look beautiful when applied wet for a dramatic look.
-Not very expensive and is on sale a lot of times.

Things I don't like about this quad:
-Colours are pretty but very glittery
-too much fallout
-no matte shade for blending
-packaging is flimsy
-my quad came sealed without an applicator and I have seen applicators in most of them but maybe they forgot to add one in mine.

Following are swatches using an eyeshadow brush on my hand in daylight

Left-Dry Right-Wet

Below are swatches used dry

Swatches using a wet eyeshadow brush
The intensity of the colors is more when used with a damp brush. This also prevents any fallout that we get using eyeshadows dry. Buy I prefer using them wet only when I need a dramatic approach.

In artificial lighting the colors look like below

Overall these eyeshadows are pigmented but there is also too much fallout. Another thing I did not like about these shades was that they are all shimmery. Too much glitter causes too much fallout and flakiness. I would have loved it if they had atleast one matte or even satin shade but all of these maybelline quads have shimmery shades.
If you like shimmer I would recommend this quad but otherwise I don't think I will be buying anymore of the Maybelline Eyestudio quads.

Hope you had an amazing week so far.

Much Love!!
DG

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Firecracker

Rimmel London Lasting Finish lipsticks claim long wear upto 8 hours and creamy  texture for comfortable wear. It also states it has 25% more color impact.

I would definitely agree with the color payoff and the creamy texture that moisturizes the lips. Does not make my lips feel dry and also does not feel sticky. But the lasting power is not more than 3 hours. If I blot and reapply layers of it, still lasts me no more than 4 hours. But that is with all creamy lipsticks. The more moisture the lipstick has the more likely it will rub off soon.

On my NC 42 skin it looks beautiful when paired with a neutral eye. As this is a bright color keeping the eyes simple and focusing on the lips must be kept in mind. For lighter skin tones this color would look fabulous but for darker skin it could be a little too bright. If you can carry it off well, go ahead! I definitely recommend playing with makeup and not to be scared to come out of your comfort zone.

I think this is the brightest color I own in lipsticks and it is really gorgeous. It retails for I think $12.45 not exactly sure because I bought mine on sale at priceline. Priceline usually has about 20-30% off on Rimmel sometimes and its a great way to try these lipsticks at a lower cost.

Models Prefer eyeshadow quad in Hook Me Up

The Models Prefer eyeshadow quad caught my eye in priceline because of its everyday wearable shades. Gold and a bronzey brown is perfect for a day time look or you can play it up with adding a dash of purple and making it bright. It is one of my go to eyeshadow quad as it is easy to carry and has 4 shades to come up with different looks.

Above are the shades swatched with an eyeshadow brush. They are quite pigmented and creamy but they also have some fallout.

The above swatches were done using a wet eyeshadow brush.

I wish they had included one matte colour but for $9.95 this is a great quad to add to your collection if you are into golds and purples.

Below is an eye look I did using this quad and it definitely flatters brown eyes and medium skintones.

I have very oily eyelids and without a primer these stayed on for about 3 hours. I am sure with a primer the eyeshadow would last longer.

Above is a picture showing how the shades would look in artificial lighting.

For a soft day look you can use the eyeshadows dry but to make them stand out for a nighttime look I would suggest using them wet.

Have you used Models Prefer eyeshadows before? What do you think about them?

Estée Lauder Pure Color Blushing 55

Hello readers,

I know you guys will be like "enough with the lipsticks already!!" Or " review something else" but I promise this is my last post on a lipstick for a while.

Estée Lauder long lasting lipstick in Blushing is a beautiful peachy pink color which will flatter any skin tone.

It is a silky creme formula which definitely lasts a long time on the lips. I had this on my lips for a good 6 hours with no eating or drinking. Otherwise it has lasted me 3 hours.

I am not a huge fan of its packaging, it looks elegant from the outside but it feels cheap. These retail for $45 in Australia which is a bomb for a lipstick. That is why I was disappointed with the packaging because that is what you are paying that little extra for.

Anyways back to the shade, Blushing is a peachy pink color on my skin. It looks beautiful with a black smokey eye.

It does look darker in the tube but it is a very build able color. Above is just 2 swipes of the lipstick.

I bought this shade because I had nothing like it in my collection but I am sure there would be some cheaper alternatives available from the drugstore,

I will not be purchasing any more of the Estée Lauder lipsticks as they don't give me that luxury like feeling for the price tag. But as a color I would definitely recommend this shade of peachy pink for NC40-42 skintone.

Do you own any Estée Lauder lipsticks? How do you feel about them? Let me know in the comments below.

Love,
DG

Priceline and Big W haul

Good evening readers,

I just got back from the shopping centre after doing my groceries and while I was there I dropped into Priceline and BigW.

I bought just one thing from BigW and that was false eyelashes. I dont know if any of you have tried this brand but its the Eyelene Lash studio.
I bought the one in Darling Defining and they were only $4.98. I have not tried them on yet so I am not sure how they wear but for under $5 I just thought I wont be loosing anything so picked them up.

The next few things I bought from Priceline. Artiste makeup brushes in 11 powder brush and 50 foundation/concealer brush

The powder brush is very soft and the foundation brush is good for cream products so I thought I'll try it with cream blushes and see how that works. It will also be a great brush to blend out concealer for under the eyes.

The next two things are from Rimmel, I have never tried any eye products from Rimmel so I bought the scandaleyes eyeliner pencil in black. It is the most pigmented creamy long lasting black pencil I have ever tried!!!! Will surely post a review on that one soon. The next thing I bought is the Sexy Curves Mascara in Black.
This Mascara caught my eye because of the brush, it reminds me of Benefits They're Real mascara. Not exactly the same but kinda similar. I will try it out and see if it gives me the full volume and curve that it claims to do.

That was all that I bought today. Hope you guys are having a beautiful weekend and if you have tried any of these products do let me know in the comments below.

Love,
DG

Sportsgirl Pout About It Lipcolour in Pretty Please

Hey Guys,

I was recently in sportsgirl shopping and suddenly my eyes fell on their cosmetic section. I thought they only had nail polishes and lip glosses but was quite surprised to see that they have branched out to palettes, lipsticks, lip paints, blushes etc. I picked up this lipstick in Pretty Please which is a light pink colour. It is a very natural colour on medium skin tones.

The packaging is quite nice as they have the colour of the lipstick showing through at the bottom. This lipstick retails for $9.95 which is pretty reasonable too. The colour payoff is amazing. I did not expect it to be so creamy and last me upto 4 hours of wear ( no eating and drinking).

The following swatches are two swipes of the product

I reach for this colour whenever I want to just slap on something natural but still stand out. It is a very pretty colour and for under $10 you really can't go wrong.

This collection of lipsticks contains bright oranges and reds too which I am definitely going to check out.

By the way the picture online does no justice to the colour. It shows up as a peachy nude but it is actually a light pink.
( see below)

Have you tried the Sportsgirl lipsticks?? Leave me a comment below and let me know which colour you have tried.

Lots of Love,
DG

YSL Rouge Volupté Rose Culte 11

As you may know I absolutely adore the YSL lipsticks! I have only 3 of them but still they are my favorite lipsticks.
This shade is a bright fuchsia pink on my NC 40 skin tone. One of the brightest lipstick I own. I brought this through strawberrynet.com and it costed me $34( I still saved $21 with the Australian market price being $55).

It is the most prettiest sight ever! Sigh I just cant get over it!!! It smells rosy and beautiful. It lasts 4-5 hours without eating or drinking. Does not dry up the lips. After 5 hours it stains but doesn't completely wipe off. It is not matte but it is not glossy either, just a pretty sheen. The following swatch is just one swipe of the lipstick on my lips. It is extremely pigmented and will definitely  last me a very long time. I will prefer using a lip brush rather than directly applying it straight from the tube as it is a dark colour and to get the perfect shape of the lips, a lip brush gives more control.
In daylight (above)
In artificial lighting (below)

I am totally in love with the Rouge Volupté line and will definitely pick up some more gorgeous shades soon.

Have you tried them??? Which color?? Let me know in the comments below.

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine 7 Rose Infinite

Hey everyone,

Today's post is going to be about one of YSL's Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick in 7 Rose Infinite.

I bought this lipstick from strawberrynet.com and from the very first day have fallen in love with it.

It is the most wearable colour and a perfect everyday colour for me. Its not a true nude on my NC40 skin. Its a pinky nude which makes my lips look naturally pretty.
The packaging is most talked about as it feels luxurious!!! Yes indeed! The main reason I bought this was because of the packaging. I did not care how or what the colour would look like on me but when I first applied it, I knew that this lipstick would be my everyday go to shade from now on.

Other than the hefty price tag I have nothing negative to say about this product. It retails for $55 in Australia but you can find it online for $35-$40 from Amazon.com.

Strawberrynet.com only stocks a few colours and from time to time they get the more popular shades but they sell out pretty quickly too. I would suggest going in to any YSL counter and swatching them on before purchasing because they do look different in pictures online.

They staying power of this lipstick is not great but I don't mind it as it lasts me 2-3 hours without eating or drinking. It is extremely moisturizing on the lips thus we have to sacrifice the staying power.

Overall it is an amazing lipstick, not a must have but it would look really pretty on that vanity of yours! ;-P

Love,
DG

Essence 24 hr Hand Protection Balm Review

Hello beautiful,

This post is a review on the Essence Hand cream which is a limited edition product available at all Pricelines and Targets which stock Essence products.

This collection comes with 3 hand creams- Gingerbread Chai Latte, Apple Cinnamon Punch and Caramel Hot Chocolate. I own the Apple Cinnamon Punch and oh my god! It smells delicious!!!
It claims to be a 24 hr hand protection balm, I am not too sure about that because it does come off when I wash my hands with soap. If you don't wash your hands as often it does stay on pretty well. The scent however lasts a long time. Its not sticky and absorbs into the skin easily. The most important thing is it is only $1.95 !!!! You can never go wrong with this hand cream which is less than two dollars. If you want your hands to smell like yummy winter flavours I would totally recommend this product.

Overall, it is a good product, cheap, smells delicious and easily available at all Essence stockists.

If any of you have tried these hand balms do let me know what you think of them.

Love,
DG.

Product Empties May 2013

Hey everyone!

Today's post is going to be about the products I have used up and all of them have been repurchased again as I totally cannot live without most of them.

1) Rimmel London gentle eye make up remover:
This is probably the only drugstore makeup remover that has been good for my eyes and skin. Although it says it is a eye makeup remover I do use it for my face and seriously it is the only product that has never broken me out. I have tried other makeup removers from MAC(not drugstore but I have used it and it doesn't suit me), Revlon, Maybelline etc and till date this is the only one that has suited my sensitive skin. This is my third empty bottle so you can guess that it is my HG makeup remover.

2) MAC brush cleanser:
This product is good for spot cleaning your brushes but there are other brush cleaners out there that do the same job. I bought it from overseas and it costed me around $12 but it retails for I think $20 in Australia. I had purchased two bottles so when I run out of my second one I may try another cheaper brand.

3) Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle:
I love this lip product so much that I have already bought 3 of them incase I run out. They are so creamy and smooth. This colour in particular is MLBB and I love using it for work because its not overpowering yet gives a flush of colour to my lips. <3

4) Estee Lauder Day Wear Moisturizer:
I got this in a gift bag and loved it so much that I bought a full size. Recently ran out of that so I bought another one. The sample was for normal to combination skin and my first full size was also normal to combination as I dont get very oily. The second one that I have purchased is for Oily skin so I will see how that goes. I personally love the product but again its not a must have. There are cheaper more amazing moisturizers but for me when something suits my skin especially if it directly touches my skin I stick to it.

5) T.N.Dickinsons Witch Hazel Toner:
Faboulous toner!! I have used a lot of toners and this one is really good. It doesnt smell all alcoholy, although it does have 14% alcohol but its not all chemically smelling. It contains 100% distilled witch hazel which is good for acne prone skin.

6) Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Lotion:
I use this product at nights when I take my makeup off and after I wash my face using it like a toner. Everytime I do that I have leftover makeup on my cotton pad. I cleanse my face really well but this product takes that 0.1% of makeup left on the skin. I would truly recommend it.

If any one would like me to do an indepth  review on any of these products do let me know in the comments section below.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Much love,

DG.

Welcome to my blog!

Hello beautiful readers,

Welcome to my blogpage. This blog has been created because I am a makeup junkie and I love experimenting, but whenever I am looking for reviews most of the products are unknown to people while they have been in the market for months. This really frustrated me as I couldn't decide if I should buy those products.

This blog is going to be related to product reviews that are available in Australia and some international products that I can get hold of. It is a platform for me to show my readers what a product would look like and also if it is worth buying. So all you ladies( and some men who are interested in makeup) out there do not worry as dazzlegloss3 will be doing all the hard work for you and will give you honest opinions about makeup, skincare, haircare and nail stuff.

Just some basic information:

Skin color: NC 40-42 Mac
Estée Lauder Double Wear Shell beige
Chantecaille future skin Wheat
Ysl Tient resist 9 honey.

Skin type: oily in summer, combination in winter

Favorite colors: pink, red and gold

I hope I am useful to anyone who reads my posts and can help some of you in your product selections.

Thank you for your time,

Dazzlegloss3
